About

Joshua Weinfeld is a Nashville-based musician, producer, audio/video engineer, composer, and music technologist whose work connects performance, recording, electronic production, and creative technology. Drawing on his background as a percussionist and classical musician, he works across concert music, studio and live production, audiovisual documentation, interactive media, and artist-led projects. His practice brings musical perspective and technical fluency together, whether he is producing a recording, designing sound, teaching, or developing new work.

Joshua holds a master's degree in music technology and digital media from the University of Toronto and a percussion performance degree from Vanderbilt University, where he studied under the tutelage of Ji Hye Jung, W. Lee Vinson, and Dr. Marc Widenhofer. He was born and raised in New York City, where he attended Fiorello H. Laguardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts. At Vanderbilt, Joshua was featured to perform three times as a part of the Blair School of Music Student Showcase, participated in masterclasses with artists such as Robert Van Sice, Michael League, Michael Burritt, Alejandro Viñao, and Edgar Meyer, and performed alongside artists such as Roxy Coss, Jeff Coffin, Ji Hye Jung, Sandbox Percussion, and the Chatterbird Ensemble. In 2020, Joshua was awarded first place at the Tennessee Collegiate Solo Percussion Competition in both the keyboard and snare drum divisions.

Joshua was the recipient of a Downbeat Magazine award for the best collegiate-engineered live recording as well as the Wendy Carlos Award for Innovative Creative work in Music Technology. In 2023, Joshua on behalf of Continuous Motion Productions, was awarded a Gold Award in the Audio Engineering Society Recording Competition for the studio recording production of “Blue Soul” by Michael Burritt; he has also won AES Gold for traditional acoustic recording and AES Silver on behalf of VXRIABLE for the duo’s competition entry. He has also guest lectured at Niagara County Community College, and has been featured as an IMSTA FESTA demonstrator for Melodyne products in the Toronto, Ontario area. Joshua additionally works with Music Marketing, INC. as a product expert for Dreamtonics' Synthesizer V - an AI vocal synthesizer software.

Joshua’s studies and experiences have greatly contributed to his role as a producer, engineer, and technologist. With Continuous Motion, he has worked on hundreds of audiovisual projects. Joshua loves working with other artists and utilizing his knowledge of technology in tandem with his experience as a musician to facilitate the creation of new works. Additionally, Joshua is an avid composer and sound designer, and he enjoys working with technology to produce new works of his own. He is a member and teaching partner at Synthase, where he teaches music production, electronic music, portfolio development, and summer workshops for high school students. He is frequently involved in game audio development and is a member of VXRIABLE - an emerging electronic music duo. He also co-founded MO//DE Soundworks, an indie electronic music label and collective. As a member of Continuous Motion Productions, Joshua strives to establish meaningful collaborative relationships and to realize technological projects at the highest technical level.
